The supportive supervisory scale: psychometric properties in Chinese health care aides samples

Abstract Objective To sinicize the Supportive Supervisory Scale (SSS) and analyze psychometric properties of Chinese version SSS (SSS-C). Methods The (the original English version) was firstly sinicized adjusted, then its were examined in 300 health care aides from four long-term (LTC) facilities. SPSS 22.0 used to process data calculate reliability validity. Results 15-item SSS-C had satisfactory internal consistency (Cronbach’s ? coefficient = 0.852), split half (Spearman-Brown 0.834) test–retest (Pearson correlation 0.784), three factors extracted. If items with their communality < 0.4 deleted, remaining 11 could explain 55.654% total variance. discriminant validity varied significantly between sites. Conclusions can be effectively measure supervisory support nurses within LTC settings.
